About Us:
MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide shelter and care for Rim Country's lost or unwanted animals, to
promote adoptions, to encourage the spaying and neutering of pets, and to
educate both young and old on animal care and responsibilities.
ORGANIZATION HISTORY:
The Payson Humane Society was established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) Corporation
in 1972. The shelter is financed through cash donations, memorial gifts, town &
county contracts, recycling aluminum cans, adoption fees, grants & estate gifts,
food & supply donations, dog bank collections, and fundraisers.
COMMUNITY SERVICES WE PROVIDE:

Provides shelter, food, care
& promotes adoptions for the area's homeless/abandoned animals.

Provides foster homes,
through volunteers, for the very young or ill animals

Provides care for animals
brought to the shelter by the town & county animal control officer.

Educates the public on animal
issues.

Maintains a "pet request
file" and a "lost and found" service

Helps to sponsor & advertise
low-cost spaying & neutering.

Works with Rim Country schools, furnishing
educational materials, and guest speakers.

Promotes
animal awareness through the local newspapers, radio stations,
InPayson.com, the
PHS Newsletter, fliers, and our
website.

off-site, including Pups on Parade at the Dog Park.

Promotes humane education in
our schools via newsletters & guest speakers.

Encourages recycling by
collection of aluminum cans. (a PHS fundraiser)

Socialization of shelter
animals, e.g.. walking the dogs, petting the cats.

Fund-raising events such as
the chili supper, bake sales, and rummage sales.

Food drives for the shelter
animals.

Partnering with PAWS in the
Park, Habitat for Humanity, & other organizations in various activities.

Participation in community
events including the Rodeo Parade/through the Rim Country Regional Chamber of
Commerce, the Spring Eggstravaganza at Green
Valley Park/in conjunction with Payson Parks & Recreation, and other programs &
events they sponsor throughout the year.
EUTHANASIA POLICY:
Healthy, adoptable animals are held as long as
there is space. At times, Town & County control officers deliver ill
or un-adoptable animals causing euthanasia to be necessary.
Euthanasia is performed in a very humane, private and individual
manner by vet certified caring technicians.
